About Aron Trimble

Aron was born in Texas and never plans on leaving. Despite a Windows-only childhood, he purchased an iPod (his other MP3 players all failed) and quickly learned of the greatness of Apple hardware and software. He currently spends his days working for an energy company specializing in financial management software. In his free time Aron can be found reading the latest news, watching his latest Blu-ray purchase, or occasionally posting to this site. Passionate about technology, automotive culture, and the many communities around them, he also enjoys photography and is a self-diagnosed HD-addict.

Apple Watch – My Initial Thoughts

By |April 14th, 2015|Categories: Articles, Tech|Tags: , |

Ignorant and financially irresponsible -- those are two labels recently given to me in the eciov newsroom. The reason: I’m getting an Apple Watch. The topic is more divisive among my circle of techie friends than I anticipated. I suppose we should expect that these days. Apple is popular enough now that it warrants the extra attention and scrutiny. Words can hurt, but I’ll press on and tell you about my first experience with the Apple Watch. Before talking about my Watch appointment, I’d like to [...]

Apple Sent Invites to March 9 Event, and I Wasn’t Invited

By |February 26th, 2015|Categories: Articles, Tech|Tags: , , , , , , , |

This morning, Apple announced an upcoming event by way of sending invitations to the party, and yours truly is not on the guest list. I’m not at all bitter about missing the event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco. The affair will begin March 9 at noon here in the lovely state of Texas (10:00am Pacific, 1:00pm Eastern). I’ll probably be eating lunch or obsessively refreshing one of a hundred different liveblogs from the select few in attendance. Who knows? The invit [...]

Best Desktop Headphone Amplifier

By |February 25th, 2015|Categories: Audio, Recommendations|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

I recently purchased some nice headphones for riding the bus. I really like them, but this review isn’t about headphones. The amount of ink people spill covering headphones should cause you pause. In reality, most of it comes down to preference. As much as I love my headphones, I discovered their fatal flaw when I tried to use them at work. For just about any pair of good headphones, if your connection isn’t a high quality source, you’ll notice it. When I connected my headphones to the generic w [...]

Confession: I Love My Apple TV

By |February 11th, 2015|Categories: Articles, Movies, Tech, TV|Tags: , |

You may recall that in a previous life I wrote for the now-deceased TUAW. In 2009, I wrote a short diatribe detailing my hatred for the Apple TV. At this point, the Apple TV was 2 1/2 years old, and I had struggled with it for about a year. If my memory is correct, that piece grew to be one of the most popular things I ever wrote; clearly, the frustration resonated with many others. I don’t say this to toot my own horn but rather to calibrate your understanding of how bad the Apple TV really was [...]

I Was Told There’d Be Fish

By |February 6th, 2015|Categories: Articles, eciov|Tags: , |

Honestly, I hate fish and pretty much all types of seafood. I'm more of a "groundfood" kind of guy -- you know the stuff, it either grew out of or walked on top of the ground. Yeah, that's my jam. I also like jam and I suppose that qualifies as groundfood because it's either made from some fresh fruit or (and probably more likely) made from corn syrup and other stuff like artificial flavors. Anyways, back to the fish. I was told there'd be fish. Josh didn't actually tell me there would be any fi [...]
