Welcome to GG Episode 4, our gaming podcast here at eciov. In this episode, Sean and Josh talk about Sean’s recent purchase of a PlayStation 4. Josh questions Sean’s loyalty to the pursuit of epic gaming (get a PC, folks). Sean questions Josh’s desire to be an all-around game connoisseur. They agree to disagree on platforms, but some interesting things happen when they talked about the PS4. Game exclusivity turns out to be a major draw for Sean… more than he thought. Josh basically re-sells him the PS4 he already purchased. How’d that happen? Sheesh.

Onwards to the Game Developers Conference and the possibility of more Steam Machine announcements. Apparently, the rumormongers expect Valve to finally reveal their Steam Machine controller. Didn’t that happen 3 years ago? Unfortunately, the Steam Machine is MIA after an extremely long development period. Have most people given up hope? We think so. Maybe the GDC will change everything. Half Life 3 confirmed!

Lastly, we couldn’t avoid another microtransaction discussion. Listen to the previous episode to understand more about the microtransaction ecosystem. This episode specifically focused on the rumor that Diablo III would soon receive an update with microtransactions. Josh still isn’t excited, but Sean points out the fact that, if Blizzard does micro well, it would help casual gamers enjoy games that typically require a hardcore commitment.

Our hosts, Sean and Josh, both work in the tech industry and spend way too much of their time playing games. From consoles to tabletop, they’re interested in all genres of gaming. Josh’s first video game was Pitfall! from the Atari 2600 first released in 1982. Sean’s first game was Duck Hunt on the NES first released in 1985. Apparently, Josh’s parents were cooler than Sean’s… or less responsible. Hard to say.

As we move forward with the podcast, we’ll cover a wide range of gaming topics, bring other gamers in for interviews, and do some Q&A from our listeners. We want your feedback. Sure, we’re doing this show because we love gaming, but we’re also here to entertain you. If we mess up, we want you to tell us. If you have a question, ask it. Feel free to leave a comment, and we’ll get back to you.
