On the morning of January 2, 2016, I went to the hospital. I was 33 weeks pregnant and had some significant bleeding. The doctors determined I have a placental abruption, which means at least part of my placenta is beginning to detach. I didn’t realize the consequences of this at first, so I was hoping to be back home with my 14-month-old son in a few hours.
